80s-Inspired Abstract Illustrations

Hah! The 80s, a beautiful era that never ceases to come back and to bring us back memories from the past, where everything was wildly different. Let’s take a look at France-based visual artist/art director named Quentin Deronzier. His art is a mixture of a trippy colour palette and yet abstract to make us feel like we are in a middle of sci-fi world, like the Omni Magazine. I just love his style and can’t help to appreciate the level of experimentation, hope you will like it too!

Animation: Breath of the Night GIFs by Nancy Liang

It’s amazing to see GIF images still popular. When I started my design career, or even before that back in the 90s, GIFs were the only way we could see animation on the web. It ended up losing space to Flash with its vector animations but, incredibly, GIFs made a come back and now are super popular. It’s almost the core of memes. Of course artists and designers take it to the next level making beautiful animations and loops. Nancy Liang created a super stylish set of illustrations and animations with a nice retro feel.

Motion and Graphic Design: Grand Yellow – On My Way

Grand Yellow – On My Way is a motion and graphic design project shared by Akatre studio. There’s so much to love about this project, especially the abstraction and the sort of surrealist mood created. Below you can see some of the stills but I also recommend you to check out the video.

What is the best Prototyping Tool for you?

What is the best prototyping tool out there? We have asked that question to ourselves and between us many times. The answer is simple, there isn’t one. All the tools out there have their own advantages and disadvantages, the question is which prototyping tool works the best for you? One thing though, we are living at an incredible time and grateful to have so many great tools at our disposal to increase our workflow, achieve better results and collaboration. Maybe it’s just about having your own list of criteria to tackle down.

Papercut Art of Endangered Species by Patrick Cabral

A papercut art series that makes you go wow and wonder if it is real or not. Well, it’s real and it’s called Endangered Species by Patrick Cabral. Based in in Manila, Philippines, he is a designer and typographer but he is also a paper cut artist. This project is a collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature and Acts of Kindness to raise awareness about species that are in danger. I am not so sure about the amount of work involved in every single piece but it’s a bold statement that 50% of the sales will go to WWF. Check it out!
